One era out, new era in.

Tomorrow will be 204 days since I was terminated from my last role.

I told myself at the beginning of the non-working period that I won’t rush into what’s next, instead I’ll cross some things off my bucket list. First up was the trip of a lifetime to Cape Town, ZA. As an Amapiano fan, being surrounded by Amapiano, in the birthplace of the genre, I was in heaven. Ten days in South Africa felt freeing and the best way to start my year, which I decided would be one of growth.

Termination came in January, and my gears shifted to making the bucket list group trip happen - my birthday trip to my homeland, Barbados. I’ve been talking about this trip since my 30th birthday trip. I shot a save the date out to some friends, word spread and planning for my own “brand trip” (lol) began.

Twenty-five people joined me on my tiny island home for a weekend of sand, sun, fetes, food and ease. I tried to make the trip one where no one had to worry or think too hard about anything. One of my friends (who also lands in the position of planner) said it was a 10/10 so I think that’s a success.

Once I got through my milestone birthday, I enjoyed the month of June to the max and decided I’ll hit the gas on job applications and interviews going into July. So said so done.

So tomorrow reality shifts. I’ll be on a hybrid schedule, working at an AI company, doing events, setting strategy and I’m excited for the first time in a really long time (work-wise). I’m ACTUALLY excited to go into the office and go into the city. It’s given me a refreshed commitment to career growth.

I’m grateful for the time and the lessons.

Yay, me!
